Things to see - St. George Social Hall

St. George Social Hall, Opera House, or Utah-Idaho Sugar Co.

From 1875 until the 1930s this building was the cultural center of the community. The slope of the floor was mechanically adjustable to afford an excellent view of the stage. Local dramatic clubs and outside players of the past presented refined productions with elaborate scenery. After the Utah-Idaho Sugar Co. bought it and later went out of business, the building sat vacant for many years until restoration efforts recently began.
